How to generate random number in intervals (a,b) and (a,b] with Javascript?

I've looked at many sources including this and this and this (though the last one isn't javascript specific.

However, I don't understand how to [uniformly] generate real random numbers in JS with an an exclusive lower bound, namely (a,b) and (a,b]. How do I do this?
