Generate random independent binary patterns

I was wondering what was the most effective way to generate N independent sequences of binary patterns, each of length P.

Is there a better way than to create random motifs in a while loop, and checking that for every new pattern, the covariance between each pair of the previously created patterns and the new pattern is equal to zero?
