How to vary the density of randomly generated points on a plane?

I wish to generate a plot like this, where the points are more dense in the middle of the outer circle, thinning out towards its outer and inner edges:

However, currently I'm only able to generate points that look like this, where the points in the outer circle are more or less even throughout:

How do I generate random points for the first plot?
