How secure is the srand function in C?

I want to generate string password in C language. But I do not think "srand" very safe function. Random string password should be meaningless and contain lower/upper letters with number and symbols. Briefly, it should be like this: eA&rPlM4cY 4MXmZyI#VB D8y1iq!G7Z FQHc@rl4R8 yR?UtPtV3d. Can you suggest any library to generate string password, Or How to generate string password in C as I mentioned above ?
