Generating a nearby random location in Google Maps Activity in Android Studio

I'm coding an app in Android Studio using Kotlin. Currently I am able to track the users movement. The next thing I'd like to do is have them press a button that generates a random point near them and that location appears on the map as something for them to walk towards, but I am not sure how to go about this.
