can randomness produced by python random be different in different operating systems?

I am using random to generate a stochastic process for a specific algorithm. I am setting the seed to be a specific value. When I use that seed value on the same algorithm on windows it gives me a specific output, thou when I run the same algorithm with the same seed value on linux it gives me a totally different value?

Is random dependent on the system you run the algorithm on?
