How to create a random 4 digit number and store it as a variable

I am working on a guess-the-4-digit-number game in python 2.7.10. But I cannot find how to randomly make a 4 digit number, and store it as a variable. The digit has to be somewhere between 1111 and 9999 If you want to, I'll post the code when I'm finished.
