Generate random UK licence plate

I am doing an assignment where I have to make a program that checks the speed of a car in a certain distance and time. I have already done this and it works but i'm not on the extension and it says that I need to generate a random UK number plate seen as i'm in the UK. I have not yet been taught this and I cant find any full code for this. Does anyone know how to do this?
